Happily Ever After

I just want to share these insights that I got from "Our Daily Bread"....

Despite what we've heard in countless fairy tales, there's no guarantee that people who get married will live happily ever after. Things go wrong- sometimes terribly wrong. Even with the best of intentions, we may find ourselves in a house full of resentment, hostility, unrest, and misery. There is no heartache of an unhappy marriage.

Yet, a difficult marriage can be the setting in which God can deal with "the hidden person of the heart" (1 Peter 3:4). Instead of focusing only what is wrong with our partner, we need to open our heart to the Lord and ask Him to confront the evil in us. he will begin to do so- gently, gradually and graciously. We will begin to see ourselves as we are- and not as the thoughtful, patient, polite, gracious, giving, and self-controlled person we had imagined ourselves to be. We will come to see how much ourselves need the Savior's forgiveness and the Spirit's help to do what is right and loving, even when we have been wronged.

Our growth in grace may change our spouse, or it may not. There are no guarantees in life except God's love. But with His help, we can change. Although all our marriage ills may not be cured, God's grace can make us well.- David Roper
*Success in marriage is not FINDING the right person but BECOMING the right person.

Soon to be Groom

Last night we spent together with our friend Junel (soon to be groom) for the last time of being a single. A week from now, he will enter into a new chapter in his life which is the bond of marriage.

I always remember this story Marriage Before LOVE (read it!). So true that at times, feelings towards our spouse may grow cold but LOVE is much more than feelings- it is a LIFE-LONG commitment.
Ja, always keep your marriage vows to LOVE "till death do you part."
Only Christ is the 3rd party in a marriage who can make it work.

God Bless your marriage!

Slumber of LOVE!

Don't you know that?

Happily hitched women sleep easier than women in rocky relationships? Indeed a report studies was presented in the annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies. Relationships that is defined as happy is said to be less in trouble falling asleep and more restful z's , and they were more likely to awaken during the night than women in unsatisfying relationships. A contended union provides a sense of security, a mindset that can contribute to a blissful snooze. Excessive conflict and stress can disrupt sleep. So if you think you need to work out your minor arguments, better resolve it first so you can have a sleep in peace.

Good night to all...ZzzzzZZZzzzz

It's a Double Celebration!

Jesus Christ is the only third party in a marriage
who can make it work!

I have mentioned in my older post So Sweet on how my hubby surprised me during our 4th Wedding Anniversary! Actually we had a simple dinner that night with my family and the 'grand' celebration was held last October 10, 2009 (oct 7 was the orig wed anniv date) at a hotel here in our city. Thank God it was a successful double celebration!

It was also my daughter's 3rd birthday!
(same date Oct 7)

Marriage Before LOVE!

I remember a story of a husband who went to his Pastor for counseling. In his hands were pages of complaints against his wife. After hours of uninterrupted listening, the Pastor couldn't help but ask, "If she is that bad, why did you marry her?". Immediately the man shot back, "She wasn't like this at first!" The pastor unable to hold back his thoughts asked, "So are you saying that she is like this because she's been married to you?"

Whether or not this story is true, it does suggest an important lesson to be learned. At times, feelings towards our spouse may grow cold. But LOVE is much more than feelings- it is a LIFE-LONG commitment.

So, walking in obedience to the Lord, let us all keep our marriage vows to LOVE
"till death do us part."

Love Never Fails!

I remember of a story about a couple who's been married for about 50 years, but still they are very much in love. Both of them are dying, but still they manage to kiss and whisper "I love you to each other and say how beautiful her wife is.

I'm saddened for those couples who have given up their marriages, who are unwilling to endure through better or worse, sickness or health, poverty or wealth. They will miss the kind of love that everyone is enjoying in their latter years. But as for me and my husband, we are always praying for our lifelong commitment, our deep faith in God, our loyalty and our self-denying love which is the most important theme of our marriage.

True love never gives up, it never fails!

Three Years!

It's been a week already since we've celebrated our 3rd year wedding anniversary and our daughter's 2nd birthday at the same time. I just realized how time flies so fast and truly I said to myself that I am really enjoying my life now as a mom and as a wife of course. With so much experience I encountered I thanked the Lord for all those things which made me more mature and be more closer to God. I can say that God has truly blessed our marital life so much and am thankful enough for the things He has given and the blessings that are yet to come.

"Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds" which means love does not change with circumstances in which I truly believes. As a couple, we live this verse in us that "Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation of shifting shadows". God never changes, and neither does His love for us. We are the recipients of a perfect love from our Heavenly Father, who has loved us "with an everlasting love". Thank God for your goodness and faithfulness in our lives.

Vows to Cherish!

Three years from now to be exact, I've still remember how we made our vows to each other!

Phebie, my honey, my love...as we stand before both God and man making public our commitment to one another, I wish to make it known that I recognize God’s authority over my life which is exercised from His loving heart. He has chosen me to be one of His own, and has since been my life. I recognize also that He has blessed me, and entrusted to me your life as an unearned gift. In recognition of these things, I, Neil, take you, Phebie, to be my wife. I purpose to love you with His love, to provide for your needs through His enablement, and to lead you as He leads me, as long as He gives me life, regardless of circumstances. Phebie, I look forward to establishing a home where Christ is glorified. Toward that end I promise to allow God to use you in my life as He sees best in building me into His person. I thank Him for your love and friendship.

I, Phebie, take you, Neil, my honey and my love to be my husband. With the greatest joy I come into my new life with you. Today I am reminded of James 1:17 which says “Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” Besides the gift of salvation, you are the most precious gift God has given me. I know that along with the new joys God has given me, I face new responsibilities that I cannot fulfill in my own strength. But by God’s grace and power working within me, I desire to be trustworthy as your wife, to serve and love you in all circumstances, to obey you, to allow God to use you to build His qualities in me, as long as God give us life on this earth. I praise God continually for you, Neil, and for your love and friendship.

Protecting your Marriage

Nowadays we often hear of a story or even see a movie about extramarital affair. It seems that in a world of unbelievers, a painful story of infidelity is just a normal thing for a couple who doesn't worked/clicked at all.

I have learned things on how to build "HEDGES" to protect your marriage and to help make "a good marriage great".

  • Hear- give a listening ear to your spouse.
  • Encourage- build up your spouse by focusing on positive qualities.
  • Date- celebrate your marriage by playing and laughing together.
  • Guard- establish safeguards by setting clear boundaries.
  • Educate- study your mate to understand him or her.
  • Satisfy- meet each other's needs.

The grass on the other side of the fence may look greener, but faithfulness to God and commitment to your spouse alone bring peace of mind and satisfaction.

Let your marriage be a picture of Christ and His church to the people around you by loving and respecting your spouse. Only Christ is the 3rd party in a marriage who can make it work.
