Typhoon Sendong Victims: A Call for Help

I guess everyone here are gravely concerned for all those affected by the devastating calamity that occurred in Northern Mindanao over the weekend. Typhoon Sendong (International name: Washi) and its subsequent flash floods relentlessly hit not just in Cagayan de Oro but Iligan City as well. Neighboring towns, affecting over 60,000 families and claiming almost 1000 lives, with over 100 people still reported missing. With the death toll still rising, thousands of people seeking food and shelter, and river systems, infrastructure and homes severely damaged, the people of Mindanao will need all the aid they can get as they try to recover from this tragic blow.

Typhoon Sendong (Washi)

Typhoon Sendong (Washi): an unforgettable tragedy...

December 17, 2011 at exactly 12 midnight a catastrophic happened in the city of Cagayan de Oro ~in just a split of seconds... flash flood came and it now turned out to be devastated areas. :(

It’s so sad seeing those thousands of families grieving for their loss of loved ones and those evacuees who are now homeless. My heart cries just like them who are directly affected of the said storm because I know lots of people who are victims of it- my friends, office mates, church mates and even my own direct families as well. Upon seeing the aftermath of the said typhoon, houses were totally wrecked, and most of those houses built along the river banks were being washed out and their areas turned to be a “desert” one. :(

Seeing those pictures uploaded by my friends makes me want to cry for God’s goodness of saving us from that kind of adversity. I can see dining room being crashed down, their kitchen being washed out and even their bathrooms like their clawfoot bathtub were full of mud. Nothing really escaped from that tragic event, indeed it was really an unforgettable moments among us Kagay-anons.

To all of us: just keep our hopes and faith going. God Bless us all!

Water & Current Crisis

After the unforgettable heartbreaking news that happened and experienced here in our city that was brought by the Typhoon Sendong (Washi), another calamity arises: the Water and Current crisis!

It would be so okay if current (electricity) will be off rather than having no water at all. Our water provider’s reservoir was being hit by the typhoon and it was totally damage and that’s the major cause of having a water crisis here in the whole city of Cagayan de Oro. They say that it will be fixed within a month, but hey we can’t live without the water.

You can see lines of pails, gallons and drums along the highway just to wait for the fire truck to arrive. Good for those households who have their own water pumps/coolant pumps because their time will not be wasted just to wait for the free water to come. Whew! Too bad commercial water prices are now starting to increase. Hope to have our water supply by next week.
